Giftypoint, Small Gifts That Are Easy to Send

Giftypoint is an online gift shop run from Pokhara. Almost everything in it costs a couple of hundred rupees: khukuri keyrings, Buddha lockets, evil eye charms, fridge magnets, bracelets and candles. We designed and built the shop, the cart and the checkout.

The Brief

Follow Giftypoint

New arrivals and festival gifts show up here first.

A gift that costs two hundred rupees has to be as easy to buy as it is to give. Nobody opens an account, fills in a long form and goes hunting for a card just to send a friend a keyring.

The second half of the problem is trust. Plenty of people here have paid online once and then waited, wondering. They would rather hand over cash at the door and see the parcel first.

So the shop was built to take steps out of the way, and to let people pay by whatever method they already believe in.

What Is in the Shop

Five categories, each with its own page, its own filters and its own collections.

From Tap to Doorstep

Four steps, and not one of them asks for something the shopper has no reason to give.

  1. Find it

Open a category, then narrow it by collection, theme or price. Evil eye, khukuri, Buddha and guardian bell each sit in a group of their own.

  2. Pick the look

Choices like silver or gold live on the same product page, so nobody scrolls through a row of near-identical listings to find the one they meant.

  3. Pay your way

A wallet, a bank transfer, a card, or cash when the parcel reaches the door. That decision waits until checkout.

  4. Follow it home

Once the order is placed it can be tracked, and gift wrapping is offered on the way out.

Inside the Shop

Designed for a phone first, because that is where gift shopping actually happens.

The homepageThe running offer first, then categories and whatever is selling.
Category and filtersSeventy three keyrings, cut down by collection, theme and price.
A product pagePrice, saving, finish and two ways to buy, all before a scroll.
Fragrance candlesA different category, on the same layout and the same filters.

How We Built It

A quick shopfront that can take on more stock without turning into more work.

  • Rendered with Next.js

Category and product pages are built on the server, so they open quickly on a phone and on a patchy connection.

  • Filters that really narrow

Collection, theme and price run against the catalogue itself, so seventy three keyrings become the four someone actually wants to see.

  • Variants without extra pages

A silver and a gold version share one product page. The catalogue stays clean and no two listings compete with each other.

  • One sign in, three jobs

The wishlist, the cart and order tracking all sit behind the same account, so a gift saved on Sunday is still waiting on Friday.
