Digital Patro, One App for Every Nepali Date
Nepal keeps two calendars, and most people need both. Digital Patro holds them in one clean view, with the tithi, the festivals and the sait for every day. It is free, it carries no ads, and the calendar keeps working when the internet does not. We designed it, built it and still run it.

The Challenge
What it had to do
- Answer aaja kati gate in one glance
- Carry the tithi and sait, not just the date
- Stay calm and quick, with no ads
- Keep working with no internet
In Nepal two calendars run side by side. Bikram Sambat sets the holidays, the school terms and most official paperwork. The English calendar sets almost everything else, from a flight booking to a work deadline. People move between the two many times a day.
The harder part is that a patro is not only dates. A bibah, a bratabandha, a puja and a shraddha each need the right tithi, and those move every year with the moon. Most families ask an elder or buy a paper calendar and hope it is a good one.
A great many Nepalis are also working far from home, where there is no calendar on the wall and no signal to spare.
Make the Nepali calendar and its cultural context accessible to every Nepali, wherever they are in the world. Our mission for Digital Patro
What We Built
Everything a patro gets asked for in a normal week, in one place.
- 01
Two calendars, one view
Bikram Sambat and the English date sit on the same screen, with the tithi, miti and vaar under them. No counting back, and no second app.
Open the calendar - 02
Full daily panchang
Vaar, tithi, nakshatra, yog and karana for the day, set out plainly for anyone who checks before a puja.
- 03
Festivals and public holidays
Dashain, Tihar, Teej, Chhath, Lhosar, Shivaratri and the rest, each with its date and a short note on the day.
See holidays - 04
Date converter
Turn a B.S. date into A.D. or the other way round, for a passport form, a birth date or an old school record.
Try the converter - 05
Auspicious dates
The sait for a bibah, bratabandha, pasni, nwaran or griha pravesh, so a family can settle a date without making a separate trip to ask.
- 06
Reminders and notes
Set a reminder on a Nepali date for a puja, a birthday or a meeting, and keep short notes beside it.
- 07
Daily Rashifal
The day's horoscope for all twelve signs, written in Nepali and new each morning.
Read today's Rashifal - 08
Home-screen widgets
Today's date on the home screen and in the notification bar, so on most days the app never has to be opened at all.
- 09
Works offline
The calendar, festivals and holidays are stored inside the app, so they open on a plane, in a village or on a work site abroad.
More Than a Calendar
The small daily things people used to keep four apps for.
Festival Post Generator
Choose a template for Dashain, a birthday or a shop notice, drop in a logo and your own words in Nepali or English, then download it. Shops, schools and offices use it to post on the morning a festival arrives.

Sunrise and sunset, the day's forecast, a news feed and live Nepali radio, all one tap from the calendar.

A school or a business can put the month calendar, a Today card or the converter on its own site, in Nepali or English and in its own colours.

See It on the Web
The website carries the same tools, so anyone can check a date without installing anything.
How We Built It
One app for two phone platforms, a calendar that does not need a signal, and a website built to be found.
- Flutter
- Next.js
- Android
- iOS
- Offline support
What we look after
- Design and user interface
- The Flutter app on Android and iOS
- The website and its content pages
- Store releases, review queues and billing
- Festival and rate data, checked and updated
- Search visibility for the web pages
One codebase for both phones
Flutter lets Android and iOS run from the same code. A correction written in the morning reaches everyone on both platforms, instead of half of them a week later.
A calendar that does not need a signal
The dates, festivals and holidays ship inside the app. That keeps it quick on a weak connection and useful to the many Nepalis who open it from the Gulf, Malaysia or Korea.
A page on the web for every date people look up
Each Nepali month, festival and horoscope sign has its own page. Someone searching for a date lands straight on the answer, and can send that page to family.
Store releases and billing, handled in-house
We run our own releases, review queues and in-app purchases on both stores, so nothing about a release waits on anyone outside the team.
